Choosing Your Instructor |
|
Our
main concern is to teach you a skill for life - not just to pass your test
.... |
|
Make
sure that you choose a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor by
asking to see the certificate bearing his or her photograph, this should be
current and displayed in the car.
Do not be fooled by the strings of initials after the names of some
instructors, these often refer to organisations or associations.
The wrong choice may mean failed tests, driving tests cost a lot so failed
tests with more lessons increase costs. Ask around and go to an instructor or
school recommended to you.
Quality varies more than price, so when you are comparing the cost per lesson
think about how many lessons you may need.
For example, 30 lessons at £22 each are £650. While 50
lessons at £20 are £1000
Remember too that some prices quoted may be per hour whilst others may be
45-minute lessons. Avoid instructors who call for clients with the previous one
in the car. You may waste between 15 and 40 minutes of valuable lesson time
driving the previous client home and picking the next one up, which increases
your costs even more! The total lessons required will vary according to age,
aptitude and amount of practise you receive. Most people need between one and a
half lessons for each year of their age. Normally you will need fewer lessons
overall if you take two or three a week.
Your instructor should have all your details and keep a record of your progress
each lesson, if they fail to keep records of your progress it will cost you
money covering what you have already been taught. |
